Workshop on the European Committee of the Regions (CoR)

Today, at 2:00 PM, in Room I at Palazzo La Sapienza, we are hosting a workshop on the European Committee of the Regions (CoR). Representing local and regional authorities across the EU, the CoR plays a crucial role in advising on new laws that impact regions and cities, which account for approximately 70% of all EU legislation. By providing a platform for local voices in EU decision-making, the CoR strengthens multilevel governance and fosters regional cooperation across Europe.

Professor Andrea Pertici, member of the ProStEUVa teaching staff, will introduce and moderate the session, which will feature Luca Menesini, member of the European Committee of the Regions, as a speaker. The workshop is open to all, including students, researchers, and anyone interested in European governance and regional policymaking. It is part of the Local Government Law (Diritto degli enti locali) and Regional Law (Diritto regionale) courses and takes place within the framework of the ProStEUVa project.

This event is the first in a series of meetings focusing on key European governance issues. On March 26, there will be a session on the management of EU funds, exploring how financial resources are distributed and utilized across member states to support regional development. On April 8, another session will address anti-corruption regulations in public administration, which will delve into European and Italian legal frameworks, highlighting best practices to ensure transparency and accountability.
