ProStEUVa, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pisa, will take part in the seventh edition of the Battesimo Civico, an initiative created to celebrate one of the most meaningful milestones in a young person’s life: turning 18 and officially becoming an adult citizen – responsible, engaged, and aware of their rights and duties.
Every year, the municipal administration celebrates all young people from Pisa who have come of age, marking their transition into active citizenship – a step that goes far beyond the acquisition of the right to vote. Becoming an adult citizen means starting to contribute to the civic, social, and political life of the community, and beginning to shape important choices for one’s own future and for society as a whole.
As part of the event, ProStEUVa will distribute an informational booklet dedicated to the right to vote. The booklet offers a clear and accessible explanation of what democracy is, why voting matters, and how each citizen plays a fundamental role in safeguarding freedom, equality, human dignity, and the rule of law – the core values shared by both the Italian Constitution and the European Union. It also encourages new voters to develop informed and independent opinions, addressing the challenges posed by dis- and misinformation.
By joining the Battesimo Civico, ProStEUVa reaffirms its commitment to promoting and strengthening democratic values, supporting young people as they take their first steps into full citizenship.
