On Friday, 19 December 2025, the Municipality of Pisa welcomed its young residents turning 18 at the annual Battesimo Civico, held at Stazione Leopolda. Now in its seventh edition, this event marks an important moment in the lives of these young adults, highlighting both the rights and responsibilities that come with full citizenship.
ProStEUVa joined the ceremony alongside the University of Pisa and the Pisa Sporting Club. Participants received a copy of the Italian Constitution, voter registration documents, and an informational booklet on democratic participation and the right to vote, prepared by Angioletta Sperti, Rachele Bizzari, and Francesca Gelichi for ProStEUVa.

Rachele Bizzari spoke during the presentation on behalf of ProStEUVa, highlighting the importance of the right to vote as a concrete way to participate in community life. She reminded the young participants that turning eighteen is not only a symbolic milestone but also an opportunity to take an active role in public decision-making. During her intervention, she also encouraged participants to consider how the information they encounter every day thorugh social media can influence their choices, and she stressed the importance of distinguishing between reliable sources and potentially misleading content. A conscious citizen, she noted, is able to engage in debates, consider different perspectives, and make informed decisions, contributing to a vibrant and participatory democracy. Finally, she invited everyone to read, discuss, seek clarification, and explore ideas further, emphasizing that thoughtful participation is what gives meaning to the right to vote and strengthens the connection between citizens and their community.
Full coverage of the event is available on the Municipality of Pisa’s website.
