Next week, the course on Diritto comparato della comunicazione pubblica (Comparative Law of Institutional Communication) begins within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module Promoting and Strengthening EU Values (ProStEUVa).
Taught by Professor Angioletta Sperti, ProStEUVa’s Coordinator, the lectures examine the legal and institutional dimensions of public communication, focusing on how public authorities engage with citizens from a comparative perspective. Professor Sperti will explore the evolving relationship between institutions, the media, and the public, analysing the shift from a model centred primarily on transparency and information dissemination to one in which communication plays a strategic role in democratic governance and in shaping the public sphere. Particular attention will be devoted to the communication practices of constitutional courts and independent authorities, as well as local, national, European, and supranational institutions, analysing the relevant legal frameworks and comparing communication strategies adopted across different jurisdictions. In this perspective, the course will thus underscore the importance of institutional communication in protecting constitutional democracy, addressing populist challenges, and strengthening civic and institutional identity within the framework of shared European values.
Lectures will take place on Wednesday at 12:15 in Polo Piagge, Room E1, and on Thursday and Friday at 12:15 in Palazzo La Sapienza, Room I. Further information on the course can be found on the Course Catalogue platform.
