On 26 March 2026 at 12:15, a seminar entitled “Political Communication and the Protection of Informed Voting” will take place at Palazzo La Sapienza, Pisa.
The seminar is part of the law course on Comparative Law of Institutional Communication and will explore the relationship between political communication and the protection of citizens’ ability to make informed electoral choices. It will examine how legal and institutional frameworks shape the ways civil society actors, political organizations, and media operate in the digital era, including social media, online campaigns, and emerging forms of public engagement. The discussion will also address the safeguards necessary to uphold transparency, fairness, and accountability, ensuring that democratic participation is both informed and meaningful. Students will reflect on current challenges, such as misinformation, algorithmic biases, and the role of regulatory oversight in maintaining the integrity of electoral processes, offering a comprehensive perspective on the intersection of law, communication, and civic responsibility.
The event will be introduced by Prof. Angioletta Sperti, ProStEUVa’s Coordinator. The guest speaker will be Gabriella Porcaro, a lawyer at the Pisa Bar and legal consultant for third sector organizations in the health and social care sector.
Students, scholars, and anyone interested in the topic are welcome to attend.
