How can constitutional courts safeguard democracy and ensure electoral integrity in Europe? This key question was at the heart of the ProStEUVa Annual Workshop 2025, held on 24 September at the University of Pisa.
The workshop, titled “Constitutional Courts and Electoral Integrity: Navigating Challenges, Shaping Prospects”, gathered scholars, researchers, and practitioners from across Europe. Discussions highlighted how constitutional courts address electoral disputes, protect democratic processes, and build citizens’ trust in the rule of law. Speakers offered both national case studies and comparative perspectives, pointing to the challenges posed by political pressure, disinformation, and institutional tensions. The event fostered a rich debate on the role of constitutional courts in securing fair and transparent elections.
The event marked an important milestone: the conclusion of the project’s first year of activities within the Jean Monnet framework.
